Applications of Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry in Energy exploration, Archaeology and Groundwater modeling

Unfortunately people think remote sensing is not related to energy at all
Someone asked me about its application in petroleum industries.
About remote sensing applications on renewable_energies like geothermal exploration just take a look at the internship opportunity offered by The department of Earth System Analysis of the University of Twente under Geocap project which aims to explore geothermal energy potentials in Indonesia
Or maybe you should consider the motto of IGARSS 2014 which was energy and our changing planet.
It’s an old belief to think that remote sensing just can be useful in investigating objects on the surface.
The use of photogrammetry in scanning archeological objects and reconstructing them is proven.
But there are researches which focus on exploring archaeological objects beneath the earth with the help of remote sensing technology.
I’m not a political person. But maybe it can help find the exact location of Solomon’s Temple without destructing Al Aqsa Mosque. who knows?
I know it may be a sweet dream or maybe you say who cares?
But some people care and its the origin of some controversies in our world.
A good example on the application of remote sensing in archaeology is depicted on the cover of the book Introduction to the Physics and Techniques of Remote Sensing

Please consider the following explanation about the cover:
The images on the cover show how complimentary information is gained with remote sensing in different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. Both images are of the Nile River, near the Fourth Cataract in Sudan. The top image is a color infrared photograph taken from Space Shuttle Columbia in November 1995. The bottom image was acquired by the Spaceborne Imaging Radar C/X-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SIR-C/X-SAR) aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour in April 1994. The thick, white band in the top right of the radar image is an ancient channel of the Nile that is now buried under layers of sand. It says that ancient channel was discovered by one of the earliest spaceborne SAR imaging systems. So why not think of more investigations with the help of future airborne advanced systems or spaceborne systems that will be nearer to earth ?
No one can deny the applications of remote sensing in groundwater modeling, land subsidence, water leakage detection, etc.
I may want to ask you notice some of the the content about leakage detection in the water network. One of the companies active in using remote sensing techniques for fresh water leakage detection is Utilis Ltd.
It’s obvious that development in remote sensing and discovering new applications depends on the development of satellites. Nowadays you cannot ignore the hydrological applications of remote sensing providing you the with the benefit of being able to study a vast area simultaneously and so being able to study basins, etc.
